“Love is patient, love is kind…” What does it mean to be patient in love? Are we supposed to put up with injustice and wallow in our suffering? Or, can we practice allowing the other person to be just as they are, extend them acceptance, and stay with them when times are tough? This week we’ll be learning how to build our capacity to linger and listen to those we love, instead of rushing to fix or solve.
“In Love…” we do certain things, and we don’t do some other things. One thing to do is compassion. It’s not just feeling sorry, it is something deeper, something that tugs at our insides and leads us to action. Compassion weaves us together and makes the world a better place. That doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s worth pausing and taking a look at what compassion is and how we grow our capacity for it.
What does it take to be in love? How does God call us to be in love? We’ll look at how belonging, acceptance, and welcome transform our relationships to those we love, and how they transform our relationship to ourselves!
Your Freedom & Your Hope Much must be done by the advantaged to resolve the issue of race, but as long as the privileged see it as something they are doing for others it will ultimately fail. This isn’t the revolution of ‘them,’ it is the revolution of ‘us.’ God has given us a vision of being THE people of God… together. This is not downsizing of some for the upsizing of others, it is a new vision of humanity that upsizes all of us in ways that matter. Are you stuck on guilt, frustration, worry and anger, or do you see and feel the new vision?
